New 2025 BMW M135 xDrive 1 Series Revealed

The new 2025 BMW M135 model, part of the fourth generation 1 Series lineup, represents a significant evolution in the compact performance hatchback segment. With its refined exterior, advanced technology, and powerful performance, the M135 is designed to offer an exhilarating driving experience.

Under the hood, the M135 is powered by the latest iteration of the B48 engine, a turbocharged 2.0-liter gasoline engine. This powerhouse delivers 296 horsepower in countries with stricter emissions regulations. In regions where emissions standards are more lenient, BMW unlocks the full potential of 312 horsepower. Regardless of the market, the engine generates 295 pound-feet of torque, enabling the M135 to accelerate from 0 to 62 miles per hour in just 4.9 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 155 miles per hour, ensuring a thrilling ride.

The exterior of the M135 showcases BMW's evolutionary design language. The front end features sharper-looking headlights, while the rear taillights draw inspiration from the latest X2 model. The M135 also adopts a quad exhaust system, a feature inherited from the X1 M35i and X2 M35i. The removal of the letter "i" from the tailgate, now simply reading M135, signals the beginning of the end for the "injection" designation in BMW's gasoline models.

Inside, the M135 offers a modern, minimalist cabin equipped with BMW's iDrive 9 infotainment system. Dual screens dominate the dashboard, with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.7-inch touchscreen display. The traditional iDrive rotary knob has been eliminated, and most conventional buttons have been replaced with touch-sensitive controls. The cabin also features a small gear selector to further declutter the interior.

The M135 comes with body-hugging front seats, complete with an illuminated M logo, similar to those found in BMW's full-fledged M cars. Additionally, a fully vegan interior is standard, reflecting BMW's commitment to sustainability.

The M135 will be available from day one when the new 1 Series goes on sale in Europe in October. Production is set to begin in Leipzig, Germany, making the M135 a compelling option for enthusiasts seeking a combination of performance, style, and advanced technology.
