Hot take but the whole scene with Caligula saying ''This isnt a game Apollo'' and killing Jason is in the top 10 moments in Riordanverse for me. And what really got me was the scene of Piper crying and cursing Apollo while holding Jason's body. What a great book !!

I'm Brazilian, when I started reading Percy Jackson I was 12 years old and internally I cried a lot when Zoe died, she was one of my favorite characters along with Calypso, Rachel, Piper, Reyna, Hazel and Annabeth

I think the part where Hazel and Leo have that Sammy flashback is really sad as she finds out how Sammy had felt after her disappearence and she relives it all

Kinda an hot take but Jason's death was my favorite scene in the whole riordanverse. It's a perfect ending for Jason's arc and it shows that Caligula ain't just a showman, someone who likes to have fun. As Apollo said he doesn't pretend to kill. And people just hate on Jason for not having enough development but I think most do not understand how much pain he endured. He was Hera's toy for all his life, he had all his memories deleted and was put into an environment where everyone thought they knew him. He had to build a relation with Piper basically from 0 after she thought he loved her. And after all he suffered in HoO (he also thought Leo died at the end), he managed to have an happy life with Piper for some time, only to lose everything again. He couldn't keep his relationship with Piper for Hera's fault, since she created all these memories and manipulated him from the beginning, and then he died.

There is even more sad about Percy his abusing step father beating his beloved mother.
That Thalia lost Jason when their starting get to know each other after their reunion she grew up thinking her mother killed Jason as baby. Jason seeing his future with Piper having grandkids.
Nico losing his mother his sister loving someone that never be his, being gay and growing up in 1940 Italy...
Or for me that Jason died but Frank survived.... SO UNFAIR

Jason death didn't strike me as hard as Zoe's death. I think the reason is his character arc is missing. His internal struggle and conflict was not written good enough for me to cry for his death.
I always cry when I revisit the part that percy has to give up his mother probably because the arc is so natural and complete. I think Rick didn't do Jason justice. He didn't write him well enough before he killed him and this make me sad.
