Great idea for a video series! I actually just recently used 250k MR pts (amex biz platinum sub) to pay for trips to Hawaii. I can never find decent award availability from SEA to Hawaii during my kid's mid winter break week. This means if I want to make the trip, I have to either pull my kids out of school, pay cash, or use delta points. I chose the latter. I moved a bunch of those points to delta and used my 15% off membership to pay for the flights. Got about 1.7 CPP. I used the rest on the 1:2.6 bonus to Hilton to fund my redemption to the grand wailea in 2026. I hate using these transfer partners, but travel to Hawaii with my restraints as a family fan is REALLY expensive. I do feel good about it though because while my CPP isn't amazing, the return on spend was solid.

I used my Choice Rewards points for 3 free nights in Paris a few years ago, and the room was small but perfectly fine. I've accrued enough since then for 3 more nights in Rome. I'd rather use those points overseas than in the US.

My strategy with Amex. Get Business Platinum and 250, 000 MR points. Met spending requirement purchasing a cruise I had planned to take a year ago. Made American my airline for Amex 35% MR point refund and incidental bonus. Got about 100, 000 points back. Lather, rinse, repeat 😀

I agree with you that the 35% MR refund is likely going away. If it does, I may shift everything to Chase.

Citi Thank you points transfer 1 to 2 to Choice. If you have a stash of TYP you can do a number of nights free. I did it in Japan in September!

Great video. It’s like you read my mind. I scored a 50k biz flight with Flying Blue to Paris next year from Washington DC. I got a 20% bump transferring my AMEX points over to them. I’m searching for one for a returning flight soon.
