I saw all these hollow knight comments so I took a look at the rest of the videos here. While this specific area does look like it takes a lot of inspiration from that game, all of the other videos show a completely unique world and original design. Don't be too quick to point fingers

Anyone who says this looks like hollownight, it’s because it’s the same genre with a vaguely similar art style, that’s like saying that mario and sonic are the same because “they are both cartoony and are platformers”

Honestly, a better idea would to also check if the player speed is above 0, so if the player is standing still behind them, they won't notice them, because the player isn't making any walking sounds

Same people that are saying this is a hollow knight clone are the ones saying palworld is a Pokémon clone, like damn there’s similarities, inspired by something we like, why hate this game? Why hate palworld? Why hate crowsworn? Enjoy games that are inspired by games you love

I think it's so stupid seeing people compare this to hollow knight likes it's not a completely different game. Hollow knight is one of my favorite games of all time, and I can see the inspiration, but it's still different. People need to understand thar people cqn get inspiration from other places and theyre not just "trying to be like that game".
It sucks as a creator to have everything you make compared to something else just because there might be a similar game.
Anyways, on a positive note, the game looks really cool and I'd love you buy it when if comes out(:

This is similar to hollow knight but thst diesnt mean its a clone. This whole GENRE started out as metroid clones. This seems fun. Too bad im broke

make 2 rays, one for vision and one for hearing, the one for hearing covers behind and infront of the npc, it activates when someone is moving in the ray, the second ray for vision activates whenver the player is within range doesn't matter if he moving

What if the origin point is inside a wall? Is this just a distance calculation or an actual raycast? If it is a raycast, you have to make sure that there’s always some space between the back of an enemy and a wall, because that wall could obstruct the raycast.

I love how the art style is similar to Hollow Knight’s! I loved the art in that game and here you’ve executed it very well. I am currently downloading the demo and look forward to playing it, since I love metroidvanias. Do you have a release date estimate?

This type of AI is just frustrating to deal with, insta 180 attack the second you get too close is bad game design, incorporate “speed of player character on the x axis” into the enemy movement decisions so that you could actually sneak up/land stealthily behind them
