I hate it when other women are critical of each other’s looks or styles, it’s bad enough what we hear from men. When I was dating a while ago, every guy I went out with boringly told me he was looking for a “Victoria’s Angel”, no matter how fat, old and ugly he was But, those emaciated, ribs-removed, big boob-implanted, spray-tanned women don’t exist in real life! Women, especially, should be caring and supportive of each other. Life is not a beauty or style contest! It sickens me how often I hear: “I’m prettier/am thinner/have better style than you!” Enough is enough; thanks, Sandra for being supportive and encouraging. I’m confident about my own style, but not everyone is, having been beaten down with criticism, even from their selves. Every woman has her own unique beauty and style and should value them.

White is the backbone color of my wardrobe palette, I wear it year-round. I do like matching footwear and accessories sometimes, like with a print dress that is my focal point. In this case, I want my accessories to move into the background, not stand out. Wearing the same color in each helps quieten them down to meet that goal. But, of course, I don’t consider it a rule, I choose on an outfit-by-outfit basis every time. I’ll try a few options until I find the combination I’m happiest with. I never saw the virtue of wearing a purple bag, lime green belt and navy shoes as in the What Not to Wear Days, just to be “Not Matchy-Matchy”, I want my accessories to relate to my outfit.

I’m 63 and still wear short skirts whenever I see one I love. It’s not about age, it’s about how one’s legs look! Why should I stop showing off my great legs just because I’m past someone’s arbitrary cutoff age? Thanks to genetics, my legs look better than most teenager’s herein the US. My grandmother, when she died in her mid-80s, still had the legs of an 18-year old, thanks for your DNA, Grandma. My 9-years younger sister convinced me not to part with my short skirts, she was right!

Dress your age is the best rule to break! Wear the clothes that put the smile on your face and make your soul sing;)
