Bobby Russell also wrote "Honey", "Little Green Apples", "The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia", and wrote and performed "Saturday Morning Confusion". Leon Russell, who arranged this and plays the Xylophone and Chimes hooks on it, was born Claude Russell Bridges, so is not related to Bobby Russell. Leon Russell also played many of the keyboard type instruments on many Gary Lewis songs, and cowrote "Everybody Loves A Clown". So like many lesser known recordings, it has quite a pedigree. This reached #20 Hot 100. I suspect that the now ubiquitous Philips label didn't have the promotion budget that Capitol, Columbia, etc. did.
