Music: "Out From The Darkenss" - Karl Casey @ White Bat Audio
In 1977, a woman allegedly came back from the dead to solve her own murder.
On a cold February night in Chicago, firefighters discovered the body of Teresita Basa among the flames of a house fire. A knife was still buried in her chest. The only evidence that survived the fire intact was a note that read “Get Theatre Tickets for A.S.”. The police exhausted all leads but the case went eventually went cold.
Five months later, “Remy” Chua, Teresita’s coworker, began having strange visions and dreams. Teresita appeared to Remy multiple times. She begged Remy to go to the police and tell them that a man named Allan Showery was the murderer. Remy was hesitant, after all, these were just dreams. But then she started speaking to her husband, Joe, with a completely different voice. Teresita’s voice. The voice told Joe that Allan Showery had murdered her and had given Teresita’s jewelry to his girlfriend. Teresita allegedly spoke through Remy multiple times until they were convinced.
Joe and Remy went to the police. The police found Teresita’s jewelry exactly where Teresita said they would, and Allan Showery was arrested for murder. He confessed to the murder but still plead not guilty at his trial. After a mistrial occurred, he was retried in 1979 and decided to plead guilty the second time around. He was sentenced to just 14 years in prison, but only served 4 of them. He was released on parole in 1983. Hardly the justice Teresita’s friends and family were hoping for.
So what do you think? Did Teresita come back to solve her own murder? Or is this all just a coincidence? Let me know in the comments.
