Petronella Wensing, Dutch migrant to Australia

Description: : Petronella Wensing and her husband Michael – a painter – migrated from the Netherlands to Australia in 1953. They travelled with their two children, and their third was born the day after the family’s arrival at Scheyville Migrant Centre. Petronella has studied and taught lacemaking, and is an internationally recognised lace artist. Petronella was awarded the Order of Australia for her contribution to migrant welfare and to the field of lacemaking in Australia.
