In this vlog, I reflect on the past two years of owning our Swift Basecamp 2 and the reality of ownership alongside the practicality of the features which make this funky compact caravan what it is.

This has been a thoroughly enjoyable, well thought out and educative series. Potential Basecamp camp owners should start here. Great job, thanks!

Hi there! Thank you very much for your review of the Base Camp van. When it first came out, I wanted one straight away! However, in 2014 I bought a used 2 berth tourer and towed it all the way from Northumberland down to Essex never having towed before! I thoroughly enjoyed it although I'm not so sure about the drivers behind me! My family thought I'd lost the plot because I actually lived in it for a year, but when my car broke down I had to sell it and rent somewhere. I was so disappointed! I vowed I would get another van as soon as I could. Well that was 10 years ago and I'm now 65 and about to retire. Although I have a few dodgy bits about the body, I'm still upright (if a little wobbly) and have been looking at pop up caravans as they look very easy to operate and are inexpensive. Thankfully, I'm not really into all the bells and whistles stuff in luxury caravans, and motor homes are just so ridiculously priced! As I value space more than anything, I will be looking at used Base Camps now as well. I think its a fantastic use of space which looks just right for me. The washroom is good too though when on Caravan sites I do prefer to use the facilities as much as possible and only use the washroom when necessary (mainly at night). Its as much to save energy on the emptying of the potty ritual as anything! And as a craft worker I can see myself making lots of things by the very excellent natural light coming in from those lovely windows. Just need a towbar now! And my pension! Thanks again. Enjoy your travels! 🙋🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇮🇪🙋🌊

We’ve been watching your videos for a while now and love them. This particular one helped immensely as we’ve just taken the plunge and bought a 2025 Base Camp 3. Thanks and keep vlogging.

very usefull and well funded review! You did explain very well why you thought 30 C was not very comfortable, but you did not really explain why you thought minus 7 C was the limit? Would have been interesting to hear your thoughts on this as well. I wished you had shown/explain the differences between the 3 awnings a little more detailed.

Thinking about going for one of these. Is the front table big enough to eat a meal on in the van or is there another solution?

ive been looking at these myself, they are by no means worth the price most of them ask for, its like they add double or triple the price they are actually worth on the top of them, some of the medium trailers are worth more than a house they are just not worth it

The Floor is not insulated..
Bed is not comfortable.
You do not have to put chemicals in the toilett. Empty it more often...
You need a underfloor wastwatertank.
Awings of a maximum of 2 m do not ptovide dry space..and do not work on windy weather.

We own a Basecamp 2, we bought it because of the hugde bed....and we love the camper.

After we spend 1500 more Euro.
70 liter Freshwatertank under the floor befote the eheels.
Spare tyre under the floor behind the wheels (mire space in the front compartement.
Pullout step under the door to get rid of the plastic stepup.
Changing the setup of the switches for the electric water heater and the electric heater, becauser they sre "hidden" and hard to reach.
And we added a mower...not really nessesary but luxury.

Last Keder on both sides for to fix a side tent.
The tent for the Basecamp is extremy expensive and makes it really long. It is not worth more than 2000 Euro.

The video is an advertisement from Spirit.

We really love our camper....after we invested a little bide more money

The commentator took my word "advertisemen for Spirit" personaly.
I did not mean, that he got money for it.
What I meant was, that he mentioned only the positiv parts ...and not the "not so positive
