Phantom traffic jams occur when drivers ahead tap their brakes – setting off a chain reaction that results in traffic behind grinding to a halt.
Ford and researchers show that widespread use of Adaptive Cruise Control tech offered on Ford models from Fiesta to Transit van can mitigate and even prevent phantom jams.

As human driver, you can practice looking further ahead, maintain constant speed and reduce unnecessary hard braking and acceleration. I do this to reduce phantom traffic jam in Bangkok, Thailand.
Reflections on side of cars ahead can also help you prepare earlier in stop and go traffic. This can save a lot of accumulated delay time.

Sounds like good technology, but in the video there are almost twice as many cars in the 'without ACC' demo as in the 'with ACC' demo, so of course you are less likely to create a traffic jam with fewer cars. That hardly proves the tech works. It's not really comparing apples with apples.

Ford is willing to add this technology to ALL cars for FREE?

I saw a comparison between 5m following distance versus 100m following distance; Nothing special; technological thing
