I bought this set recently as my first drum kit to learn on. I have quickly added a cy-15r because I didn't like not having a ride with a bell. I also do not like the high hat foot controller. Next year, if I am still playing, I will upgrade to a VH-10. Other than that, I am loving it. Working on my first cover.

I still got my Roland HD-3 V-Drums Lite kit, since 2012, wich I still love. Very solid e-drum, still like new! I recorded 318 videos using most of the HD-3 drum kit sounds. But the new TD-17 is fantastic!! Congratulations Roland!

This model here, allowed me to grow with hours of practice while living in apartment and townhome. Very solid kit.

it's good to hear the kit in "normal" as in beginner beats instead the insane beats of the Roland demonstrators, and also good to know that the bell stuff is on a more expensive kit...

I've just bought the Roland TD17KV and thoroughly enjoying it

Dude didn't plug his own drum samples, which would destroy anything Roland had stock. Class act!

Congratulations,
Is it possible to play the td17kv with the brushes?
Or is there a sound already programmed in the control unit that allows you to get the sound of the brushes playing with the sticks?
Thank you

Great review as always! I can't help but struggle to understand why they didn't put the upgraded cymbals with the ability to play on the bell on this kit. You pay over £1000 and can't play a bell on the ride, which is such an important part of a kit! Apart from that though, great upgrades from the last kits 👍

Thank you for great review. I am about buying this kit ( or Alesis DM10 MKII Pro ?? which is same price, but have more +1 cymbal and +1 pad ) . If I buy this Roland kit, is it possible to put Roland OP-TD1C Cymbal Set as second Crash ? I ask, because this Roland OP-TD1C Cymbal Set is possible to buy in local store, accidently they don´t know a lot about it in the store.... :(

Okay, almost 10 years ago I started drumming and got myself the Roland TD3. After playing the **** outa that poor thing for now almost 10 years I have to live with the fact that I killed it. No, really, it's dead. So I was sad. But now you're telling me there is a Set for almost the same price that sounds like THIS? Oo Thanks bro.
I'll get this (meaning the KVX), extand it with the two pieces from my TD3 that still work and we will live happily ever after :)).

Is this a relatively quiet kit for apartment use?

This is a short but sweet review, but I was kind of hoping he'd say something about the hi-hat trigger pedal. Is it playable? Can you easily get a "splash" sound or a "chick" sound out of it? I was considering buying the more expensive TD17KVX version of this kit, just because it has the more realistic hi-hat trigger using a real hi-hat stand, but I could be talked into this kit if the hi-hat trigger pedal is decent.

I like the drummers style. It's a nice throw back.
