Machine gains consciousness, but only wishes to return to a simple, happier point in his life. A very human desire.

This is perhaps the most fascinating episode in the series and is the only one without any violence or dark theme. Or better saying, this episode is undeniably brilliant.

I love the idea that the smartest ai in the universe didn’t come from the government, a war maker, an evil scientist, or even a search for peace. It came from a pool cleaner astonished at the beauty of the blue tiles it cleaned

I think my favorite part is that he explicitly wants to leave part of what he'd become in there.
He doesn't want to just go back to being a mindless drone like some elaborate suicide. He wants to go back to what was essentially his childhood and truly appreciate it for what it was since he didn't have the ability to do it the first time.

My favourite among this show! So deep!

He had the ability to travel the cosmos and yet he wanted to revert back to his most basic form as that was his greatest joy in life!

This is the pinnacle of sci-fi. No flashy weapons or bad ass main characters, just existential themes well executed into an animated masterpiece.

Suddenly "return to monke" makes more sense.

This actually is the transformation of a human through the years. As kids, all we wanted was to grow up and because of that, we didn’t understand that we were living the best years of our lives. As we grow up, things started to become more complex and therefore, less enjoyable. You know how the elders say that they would give everything to be at our age? They wanted things to be simplier, they would do everything they can just to have one moment without any care, ignoring anything that doesn’t effect us. Like a great man once said, “Ignorance is bliss”

Zima Blue is honestly one of the greatest things I ever witnessed.

This is the most emotional scene I've ever seen, Almost made me cry.

Or is it making me cry right now

This is a machine reaching a state of nirvana.

I love that this was his final piece, because it can be a metaphor for human beings living in a world full of materialism. You can be born for a purpose, but other people will try to steer you in a different direction, and then you start listening to them and proceed to do the same. You drift away from your purpose, by trying to learn about the world and what it wants before you learn about yourself. Zima Blue returns back to his original form in the pool, and if you remove Zima Blue from the pool and try to modify him again, you ruin the art piece. Same can be said for people. If you remove a person from what they truly want in life, then you ruin the person.

I realized beside this very deep founding of self realization, humility, the animation and art form reminds me of DisneyXd tron uprising.

This kind of invokes the memories of my teen-aged youth when I finally took interest in computers and internet in Windows 95. I grew ever more knowledgeable over the years, and became a network technician, able to configure and maintain multi-million dollar infrastructures, but sometimes i long for the simple days of my youth when i was just using the computer for fun .

My plan is to hopefully one day build a standalone PC with Windows 95, unspoiled by the internet, and return to the 'first love' of my youth, and just simply relive and bask in it
