I worked with Terry back in the 70's pulling dump a crazy sob. He had a trailer he called old flip because he had tipped it over so many times. His engine of choice back then was cat 1693 and he could sure make them run. He was a mechanical genius and a fun guy to work with. May he rest in peace

I love the fact that grandpa took the effort to come up with a genious solution so he could stand up in the back of the cab, RESPECT! Nice Machine brother.

Air start sounds so cool. I get to start locomotives every day.

There is a dude up in Ontario, Canada who built himself an oversized pickup with a 70’s international medium duty body on it. It has a four cylinder Detroit diesel two stroke out of a 1960’s dump truck, and it has an air starter on it. Since he only needs air for the horns, starter and seats, it’s pretty simple, and not prone to leaks so far. People love how it sounds both starting and running.

I was parked next to an air start "Corn Flake" cabover Freightliner back in the early 1990s. When it started it sounded like Godzilla ripping a Cadillac in half.

Tanker drivers for Exxon in Houston had air starters on their whole fleet of 2000s era KWs. It was a safety feature to avoid ignition sparks when cranking up after loading fuel.

Nice truck! I'm grateful to hear about windshields pushing in. I've had my 79 Pete 352 to 103, and never thought about that.

As someone who literally grew up listening to diesel engines i just love the sound of them revving and idling.

What a coincidence, just saw this truck passing by on the road last week and now this pops up in my suggestions. They are in my head

I bend in the dust in admiration of the special tractor, built by a driver with a big heart for his work.

He could actually charge his air tank back up with the air in his tires to start the truck and then pump his tires back up with his own truck. That's last resort if no one ous is around.

The story behind this truck is amazing….I love sitting with the old school guys….these fellas are becoming fewer and fewer every day.

I met the guy that built that truck back in about 1988. Very cool older gentleman, came in my shop, needed filters or something. He was pulling a reefer. I remember that nose, the KY, and that side door. Awesome to see it again.

Guy with the black truck is an ass. He knew you were making a video and decided to make a shit load of noise on purpose. Don't get me wrong he has a cool truck but should save it for HIS video.

I had an air start truck. The air start will work very well if you dump about 1/2 cup of diesel into the starter hose about every 6 months, then start it. Never had a problem after I learned that. The tank would hold air for a few weeks.
