A small information, if I may..
The stadium was made at 6th century bc and at first was a ), renovated at 329bc, again on 144ad and last 1896 for the first modern Olympics .The loud stampings you mentioned in one comment, has the symbolic meaning that all the dead soldiers who have fallen protecting the land and rest "bellow"can hear that there is someone still guarding the country.
