Caught on Camera: What Did We Capture in the Alberta Rockies!

On a recent Overlanding trip to Ruby Falls in the Alberta Rockies, we captured some late night video footage that is beyond explanation. I have no idea what it was but it was lurking around our Jeeps during the night, I'm just glad the grandkids did not see this. I don't know if I can ever camp again after seeing this footage, footage that I kept as proof of the unexplained.
Please watch the entire video, an answer must lie in the details....

I'm a backpacker/mountain climber/kayaker/truck camper in Washington State for 50 years. I've seen and been around brown and black bears, walked up on deer but never seen or heard anything I don't understand. The night vision B&W camera footage in this video has been aptly defined; some human in an IR treated cam suit wearing night vision goggles (the reflecting "eyes"). The reason there was reflection in the goggles of the intruder is because night vision IR cameras have an IR emitter as an "illuminator" so the camera see in the dark. If they had an IR only cam it would show the body heat of the intruder regardless of cam, the coating reduces IR reflection not IR emission a warm body put out. Having said that, as far out as these folks drove if there was anyone near it should be audibly apparent if anyone was nearby, engine noises (arriving or leaving), slamming truck doors etc. That someone was lurking around their campsite at all, especially at night, is major creep factor! I would give out the GPS coordinates to local constabulary for future reference in case anybody goes missing or has encounters like this. The purity of nature is such a blessing!

Came for the creepy spookies - stayed for 22mins to enjoy the awesome scenery, jeeps, camping with family. Nice job on the video. Drone shots were great. Might need to invest in a snorkel for the jeeps someday.

Aussie Hunter camped alone in Victoria's high country during a thunderstorm. Was tarp over swag when a flashlight operator looking in my car 20 metres away woke me. Put on boots and hooded cammo gear and flanked the tango. He was trying door handles when I put my arm around his shoulder and said, ' 'Geday, piss off while you can'. Bugger went straight up in the air a metre. I stepped back into the rain and darkness and watched him disappear down the track. Funny as buggery.

What beautiful country! You are so fortunate to be able to share this with your kids/grandkids! Best experiences you could ever give them. They’ll remember it forever!

I read thru some of the comments and was intrigued most by the one saying that invisible suits are a thing now. I don’t know about the suits, but this definitely looked like a human running around looking to help himself to your wares. I also liked the comment about taking a dog with you. I’ve never lived without a dog and certainly would never do what you’re doing without one! The footage of the Rockies was amazing!! And how wonderful to get to share it with your grandchildren! ❤

Somebody looking in your vehicles and walking through your camp while you sleep, making an effort to be undetected, is far scarier than a cryptid.

I hunted, fished, camped and backpacked throughout British Columbia for decades and had two experiences that I couldn't explain. One was a loud noise that went on day and night for a week. I could best describe it as a chainsaw with the throttle being held wide open. Couldn't hear it from our camp on the Flathead river but heard it every time we got near the Commerce creek road. This is in M.U. 4-01 in the far southeast corner of B.C. I assumed it was a hunter's camp using a generator but how anyone could stand that racket was beyond me. After 3 days of hearing that noise i decided to go check to see if there was a hunter's camp and maybe if their generator, chainsaw, whatever was stuck running wide open. I headed into the bush towards the noise but was never able to find its source, it always seemed to keep the same distance away from me. I found no camp of any sort. I hunted in M.U. 4-01 many times but never heard that noise again. The second experience was seeing a spectre while camping at the far end of Chilliwack lake in B.C. Chilliwack lake is cold and deep and few drowning victims in that lake are ever found again. I was fast asleep when something woke me up. I figured it might be an animal in camp but when I raised up on an elbow to hear better there was a freaking glowing outline of a man at the foot of my cot. I shouted at him to get the f$%k out of there and he disappeared but my wife woke up and when I told her what I saw she made me pack up in the middle of the night and get the heck out of there.

That’s really creepy to be that far out and still have someone prowling around your camp. Glad all are safe.

Thanks, Keven, for explaining that. The eyes were puzzling. Wow! To have someone out there in such a remote location snooping around is creepy.

Yep. A lot of campers go missing while enjoying the beauty of His Creation. The veil is lifting, and our hedge of protection is being removed. Magnificent surroundings! I love to camp. When I lived in central CA., spent many Saturdays, or Sundays meandering the Sequoias! No. CA. Redwoods are stunning, too!Where the Redwood meet the clifs, and ocean are stunning too. Big Sur, and Carmel are a bucketlist must visit. Spring has always been my favorite time of year. Gorgeous flowers, and great fishing! Heaven scent! Many favorite lifetime memories with family. "Grandad, granddaughter." ❤

That is some gorgeous country! I may never get up to see that remote area, so thank you for sharing the experience. Seeing your grandkids having fun and learning to love and respect the outdoors is priceless! I appreciate your attitude towards respecting our earth, as well. Bravo!

I’m big into paranormal but I’m going to have to say that this is a night vision glitch and that was actually a human being nosing around your camp… also creepy, but nothing paranormal in my opinion. My ring doorbell glitches and shows my cat and my neighbour disappearing into thin air, moving oddly and sometimes barely being picked up at all. My cat is very black and my neighbour wears dark clothes to work, I assume night vision has problems sometimes picking up dark shapes in darkness, maybe something to do with the light trickery not working as well with dark shapes. I can’t explain it, but unless my neighbour and my cat are secretly otherworldly entities, I’m sold on night vision glitch.

Gorgeous footage of your surroundings though, I’d love to go there! So special to be able to spend time with your grandkids in such stunning nature.

Yep, that was spooky. We had a couple of visitors while camping. I heard their whispers, but when I racked my 12ga, they left in a hurry crashing through the underbrush. Nevertheless, we couldn't get back to sleep. We just packed up and left.

This reminds me so much of my youth. Our family were BIG TIME campers. I love it so much. The beauty in this world is so spectacular to see. We camped all over the US, and we lived in Germany and camped all over Europe. Spectacular!! It gives you a profound love of nature and everything in it. Your grandchildren will remember this for the rest of their lives!!!

I believe there are two snooping people in invisible suits that didn't think your camera would pick up their images. What amazing shots of the outdoors in Canada. Your grandchildren are lucky to have you. Keep creating those memories. I cherish the Yosemite camping trips my grandparents took us on as a child.
