Dynamic Harps Virtual Harp Ensemble

FREE 10 WEEK HARP ENSEMBLE COURSE!

A FREE offering to all harpists around the globe to come together in friendship, peace and harmony to enjoy our wonderful instrument and distract ourselves from COVID-19.

What? A 10-week harp ensemble course aimed at all levels.

When? Tuesday evenings 7.30pm-9.30pm GMT, weekly from 20thApril 2020 (I may move this start date to be earlier if UK goes into lock down soon)

Where? Online via Zoom

How? With your computer or smartphone and harp

Who? Anyone anywhere in the world wishing to enjoy harp music with friends, to take our minds off COVID-19

I have been teaching Dynamic Harps weekly since 2013, and suddenly we cannot meet! I think we all need the joy of music and collaboration now more than ever, so as many others are doing, I have looked to take our meetings online.

How can we be an ensemble online?! Well we can’t in the true sense, but I have given this some very deep thought and have plans to score our parts slightly differently, so that I can teach the ensemble music in a way that should still be enjoyable and satisfying even though you will only be able to hear yourself and me playing most of the time. The sessions will be interactiveand I will occasionally ask willing individuals to unmute and play to me from time to time to make sure we are all learning and getting the rhythms etc. You will be emailed music in advance of the rehearsals so you can print it out ready to play from, this will be sent out on the 18thApril 2020. I will use Zoom as the platform for us to meet, this can be accessed via computers or via smart phones.

I will make sure that we include a social element in all this,we will be able to chat by text and have a ‘tea break’ where we can unmute and natter in the middle and after the lessons. We can make this work I know! (A secret bonus of all this is that if you can’t make a session live you will be able to access a replay afterwards, and anything you want to double check later you will be able to jump back into a previous lesson to re-watch and remind yourself)

All things being equal, we will then be able to have a group rehearsal and performance on the Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th July at NBGW (if the garden is open to the public at that time). Anyone joining us internationally will of course be welcome to join us in person, but I will also aim to set up a link via the internet if possible, so you can play along with us on the day whatever! If the concert is not able to take place in July, I will set up another performance opportunity for us all as soon as we can.

PLEASE NOTE  - This is ensemble learning, not to replace anything you are doing already with your studies or regular lessons. This is an extra add on!

What will I expect from you?

Commitment! The 10 weeks will be progressive so attendance (or re-watching) of each session will be necessary. I am making this FREE as there will be many of us across the world (myself included) who will be unable to earn for a spell. I want this experience to be available to everyone and anyone so we can all help each other be ok during this very exceptional time. At times like this I wish I was a nurse or a doctor and could practically do something, but I am not, I am a harpist. So, this is the best I can come up with to do anything useful, I hope it will be great fun! For anyone feeling uncomfortable about this being free, you can always buy a CD, music book or online course from me at some point, but for now let’s just all be there for each other.

Are you in?!

Please sign up by adding this 'product' to the shopping cart and checking out, it is all free but means I will have your email to add to the ensemble contact list and send you the music and login details to.

See you online!

With all best wishes,

Shelley Fairplay
