EVM 12L / G12H shoot out with Marshall JMP

Показать описание
Marshall and the greenback is a classic combination but in this video we wanted to see how a vintage Marshall would cope with an OEM EVM12L speaker.

The idea was that the 12L is a high powered clean sounding speaker where as the greenback (in this case a H heritage 55Hz) is a reproduction of a 50 year old low powered speaker with early breakup.

In this video we used a closed back Fatbaby 1x12.

As always we love to hear what you think, or if there is any thing that you are keen to see.

EVM12L is just so clean across the whole frequency range. Its the exact sound I'm after.
Great demo. Just goes to show how important speaker selection really is.

EVm12L is my all time go to, it gives me the tone I am looking for every time no matter the cab or amp.

Very helpful video, I took a leap and bought an EVM12L after watching it. Glad I did. Thanks!

both are great friends thank you. I have an original EV from the 80's and well it is diverse and crushing loud.

EV kills it, and it’s not even close. That killer top end.

That greenback sound is iconic but man open isn't even the word for that EV practically endless sound I loved it

Great sounds as always. Also preferred the Greenback Had a bit more in the lower end. That Marshall JMP is a great amp, prefer that to your Vintage Modern.

June 18th: Paul McCartney's birthday. I've had Black Shadows in my Mesa Boogie 4x12 cabs. FANTASTIC!!! Giant sound!

Love the EV! I’ve only ever seen/used EV in PA rigs... 🤯 sounds sick! I honestly don’t think enough guitarists understand how important the loud speaker and cab is in shaping tone... This channel is so good! I have 2 2x12 Fatboys that sound different in tone and then plugging different amps in the combinations becomes endless 🤪... Wicked videos guys!!! ❤️

Great tones! I've always been an EV guy, and preferred it here as well (although those Greenbacks sounded beautiful). It'd be really cool to hear that EV Black Shadow compared to the 12L Classic, especially with one of your Mesa amps since Boogie branded speakers are voiced slightly differently from the standard models. MC90 vs CL80 would also be cool, for that matter. I recently uploaded an EV shootout on my channel if anyone is interested. Keep the great content coming! Cheers :)

I liked the EV’s cleans better, but in the dirty section it made that Marshall sound more like a mess. The Celestion just sounded more right there

great test, the H Heritage is my favorite Celestion speaker. Now I basically use EVM12L in my cabs. I used to have 2x 4x12 loaded with them. tend to get loud hehehe. I hope you get to test a 4x12 with EV some day.

Celestion has a bit more body and punch. EV would probably be the better of the two if it were a Fender amp, but for a Marshall, Celestion is still king of the hill.

I have a pair of Jensens identical to the EVM 12L and they are incredible for pedal platforms. I like the sound of both speakers.

Though I only own high wattage EV style speakers, I always prefer the more crispy, saturated sound of Celestions.
Plus the 1kHz slight peak of the EV is very much audible on this here video.

The EV sounds really good! Would be awesome to see an EV12L vs G12K100 vid.
