Jerry Duckworth aka @TwitchyTheologian joins Idol Killer to discuss Calvinism and it's doctrine of Total Depravity. Will Warren convince Jerry that the doctrine isn't Biblical? Did God decree for Jerry to be the effectual mean by which Warren is persuaded to return to Calvinism and once again affirm Total Depravity? Tune in to find out!

As much as I hate the doctrines of Calvinism... @TwitchyThelogian is a refreshing departure from the typical advocate of Calvinist doctrines. Kudos to him for that.

Warren, I watch all your videos, and never think you are mean! You’re always gracious and self controlled.

I am smiling this entire video at the Christian love and unity between you two brothers. This is very edifying to us all. Thank you for putting Christian love before differences. I love how this is showing iron sharpening iron. Praise be to God! His fingerprints are all over you both. Both of you are very humble. Love this.

This was such a good conversation! I would love to see more between the two of you. Very different from another conversation you had recently. @TwitchyTheologian, I appreciate you sharing your testimony and praise God for your life!

Hey Warren, When can I come on your channel and talk? Or, it would be awesome if I could interview you. Either way we should talk.

A little late to this video but I just want to say ( in full agreement with @Jboc7) how great it is to see Jerry’s genuine spirit of brotherhood in Christ above only defending Calvinism - this conversation is what Mature followers of Christ having a beneficial “iron sharpening iron” discussion looks like - no matter where they may disagree on secondary issues. God bless you both - keep on keeping on

I appreciate your teaching gift. Heiser has a major work on the Augustine mis step passage.

One thing that amazed me when I had come to believe in God and the Christian Book, was how little the Garden account is discussed/explored/exegeted among Christians. There seems to be a very simplistic "standard model" among the "churched" which does not compute, so to speak, when I carefully read what is actually said in the Book. And from that very simplistic version it seems to me that some concepts come into people's minds in a reactive sense, and then taken for granted to be the absolute truth.

Whereas to me, that reactive mind imagery stuff being believed without hesitation, IS what went wrong in the Garden. IS what God warned the humans about leading to their death, if accepted as truth ("eaten" in the metaphorical language used).

It's like a mind trap thing, it seems to me, with people being utterly unwilling to question the very simplistic version of what happened, which involves nothing more than "they disobeyed God", which is then called the "original sin", and whole theologies and anthropologies are born of those simplistic concepts, dominating virtually all discussion among Christians of every sort . . With me all alone it seems, thinking "Hey, how 'bout you read that account very carefully, without all those simplistic presuppositions, and discuss what it might be talking about, once in a while? Maybe once a decade, or century . . . "

When people throw around "The wages of sin is death." Context matters here. "Wages" is just a metaphor for the larger point that the end result of sin is generally death. There are other things that can cause an individual's death besides the sins of that individual. If it's raining outside the clothes are wet. If the clothes are wet it's not necessarily raining.

Jerry please try and imagine the emotion you would feel if you believed in the love of Christ for all people, all sinners not just some who are shown partiality?

Warren, you should check out ontological substitutionary atonement theory. It goes very well with what you explain about Jesus becoming all of what we are in the Incarnation- Heb 2:14-18

on the genocide, it was clearly nephelim concerns. It's also not weird. We hold to a supernatural worldview.

“For God so hated most of the world that He gave his only begotten son so that who He decreed irresistibly and effectually unto election before the foundations of the world would not parish but have eternal life while most of the world irresistibly and effectually determined to be damned and burns in God’s wrath for all eternity for the glory of God the Father.” 2nd Opinions 3:16
man I hope this doesn't get me in trouble. my sense of humor is similar to warrens and can sometimes get me in trouble. also I can't wait for k-idol radio version of 'baby i was born this way' about determinism and infant damnation, maybe that is too popular of a tune or the copyright bots to target.
