Bluesky is AMAZING

I've been on Twitter/X, Threads, Mastodon, and many other platforms. Bluesky has finally turned the corner and is taking over, but you need to configure it to get the best experience. Here is how I configured mine.

As much as it would be nice to go back to social media as it was 10+ years ago, I doubt it will ever happen. It will not ever happen. People are awful, and that will never change. Time to pull out of social media all together. I have been the past few months, and my mental health has definitely improved.

This is exactly how every new social media platform starts. No weird algorithms, no ads, no politics, but just wait untill they grow. I'm done and I settle with whatever my audience uses. Even if I don't like it 100%.

Giving the user the means of moderating their own feed is the best thing I've ever heard!
It satisfies multiple parties; don't like this thing? Simply remove it! No need to manipulate an algorithm to change your feed.

Is it good at censorship? If not then i'm not joining. I only like to talk to the like-minded people and afraid that other people's opinion might make me feel unsafe and uncomfortable.

Honestly, I was on the same route last year as you are now. Trying various social media and getting a feeling on which one is best for me. Surprise: The answer is "none". For me it's best to stay away from social media as much as possible.

I checked it out. All the posts that they have on the main page are one-sided political hatred. Hard pass.

I'm sceptical of any twitter alternative for one simple reason. They all get gased up for like a month at most and then everyone kind of forgets about them. People shit on twitter and Elon, but then proceed to not move anywhere else because there is almost noone there except people who got booted off twitter. So it's incredibly unappealing to most users. If I wanted to see a ghost town, I'd go to Minds.

I remember when Twitter Blue was introduced and everyone moved to Mastodon. After a month it was empty again and everyone was back on Twitter.

I think it would be better for society as a whole to not recommend people join on social media anymore. If you disagree ask yourself this: "Were we or were not better before social media?"

I just made a BlueSky account 2 days ago, and it's way more peaceful over there. I didn't even have to add any of the filters and blocklists you mentioned, and it's still much better than Twitter. I'm really enjoying it!

So I skipped twitter, thought I would try bluesky but then realised the constant stream of thoughts and opinions is pretty much useless to me and just a time waster, public vomit of opinions seems to be worthless.
