Massacre Falls - Superstition Wilderness, Arizona

While not widely known, the Massacre Falls is becoming more and more popular, and you can see why! Hidden in the small canyon in the Massacre Grounds of the Superstition Mountains, a place surrounded in legend, hiding a potentially dark history mixed with beautiful scenery.

The angle of view that humans are best able to appreciate the size and scope of waterfalls is from below, facing the waterfall. If the photographer doesn't get that view of the waterfall, he failed. One can be as artistic as they want, they can film it from the side, from above, from various vantages, but if they didn't film the waterfall from below, facing it directly so as to get the whole waterfall, from top to bottom, in the frame, then they didn't show the waterfall to viewers. This video is very busy with artistry, which can be great, but we get all of a second's view of the waterfall from the most appreciable position. In photography, artistry takes a backseat to function. Showing the view comes first. How I wish this video had shown the waterfall adequately: I would have shared it with thousands by way of my two Arizona playlists. Photographic principles, composition, are crucial, as photography is a form of communication, a way to convey natural beauty. If a sight isn't photographed from the most appreciable angle, it is a poor conveyance.
