It's a way of saying "Mr" or "Mrs" / "Ms" with first names. I understand it as a sign of respect for older people.

Thanks! You're too kind. I don't know that it's complex when taught the right way. If you are fortunate enough to learn it first by learning the language and then learn about the grammar (as most natives speakers would) it's a lot easier. ;-)
