A majority of the smartest men to ever exist, including the creator of the big bang theory, were all devout believers of the divine. Sheldon's militant atheism is obviously played up for the sake of the show. However, truthfully, you must meet those believers of religion as intellectual equals for their belief, though sometimes ill informed is a valid choice.

What makes your common street side atheist any more intelligent than your common street side Christian? Not necessarily anything. I'm a Catholic, a Christian, I know God is an absolute reality. I can assure you that my faith is not rooted in ignorance because I was once an agnostic and an atheist.
