The timeless, unbreakable bond between a boy and his faithful dog is put to the ultimate test in 1930s Germany, in the heartwarming family drama Shepherd The Hero Dog. When the Nuremberg Laws are passed, forbidding Jews to own pets, Kaleb, a German Shepherd, is separated from his Jewish family and his beloved 10-year-old master, Joshua (August Maturo). Kaleb is alone and on the streets – until he is captured and eventually adopted by an SS dog trainer (Ken Duken) at a Nazi work camp where the dog has now been trained to help round up and terrorize Jewish prisoners.

I love dog-and--kid movies, but shy away from Holocaust movies, for typical reasons. Now I think I'll be making an exception.

I am buffled by many inaccuracies and inconsistencies in this story. It starts in Germany-right? Suddenly German jews are in the country with "Ukrainian" guards with dogs and offering bid for dog fight with Ukrainian money? Did we just teleport to Ukraine or did weteleport Ukrainians to Germany? If so, there were no German concentration camps in the country of Ukraine. Or maybe we are in Poland or even Hungary, since we have Yugoslavian partisans there? And how can a small private boat carry jews to Palestine 2000 km away ? The movie has a poorly thought through scenario
