Love this easy to use Steam Juicer!
So far, I have used this to make cheriplum and pear juice. So easy to use and clean, I was able to can both sets in the same run. I knew from other reviews it would vent steam, which it did slightly between the lid and first container that holds the fruit. Not a big deal. The hard part, I think, was resisting the temptation to peek - like making rice. I followed the recommendations others had about not pressing the fruit to not get pulp into the otherwise very clear juice. The pears (homegrown organic), I cut into quarters leaving the skin on but did clean out the seeds/stem so that the remaining product went right into a canning jar and instant pear-sauce! It helped seeing there is a varying time for juice completion in the instructions, but it seemed in these two cases, once the clamped tube filled with juice it only took about 10 minutes after that before the extraction was done. In the first case, the variant plum took 45 minutes from the water reaching boiling to final extraction completion. In the latter, the pears cooked in 1.5 hours. In both cases, I put the lower two pots (with marble in bottom with water) on to come to a boil (with lid on of course). Then I added the fruit pot at that point and started tracking my time. Did all this over my induction plate, while I had canning water going on the stove. I took the advise to put the clamped end in a pot, which made it so easy to manage. The instructions that come with the unit are rather minimal (to non-existent), but plenty of information on line and in these reviews to figure it out. If you can fruits already, this is a piece of cake to use and makes it so fast to do!! Our apples and grapes are getting ripe, so looking forward to more juicing soon! 1 quart of fruit has so far yielded 1 quart of juice (plus 1 quart of pear sauce). Clearly, this is a great kitchen tool and will make stocks too. It is large, so unless you have a huge kitchen, I recommend keeping the original box for storage.
