Factories are not leaving China for Mexico and South Asia, they are simply re-routing the export via those countries to avoid the tariff.

What did China want is time but not “ face”. Lol 😂 The Chinese president Xi is a leader with vision, not as childish as Mr. Trump!

Finally, we have someone, John Rutledge, who understands China! It is really that Chinese side has been saying it but no one on Trump side seems to get it. Show Respect, respect, respect if you want to talk! Otherwise, no deal and you can do whatever you want!

Face is important but not that important as to jeopardise national interest. Moving production out of China is one option. That option may not vet the heavy appetite of US consumers.

CNBC Seema Mody 0:58 "Does China has the economic power to withstand ..." Well this Question should be asked on the US Side. China has the Capacity for at least 1 to 2 Generations
(1 Generation = 76.25 years 2016 based Life Expectancy in China World Bank Data 2016).

I think most people don’t know what’s on the trade agreement between China and US. This guys comes out making assumption that China didn’t sign it’s because of FACE. The trade deal could be one sided, unfavorable economically.

Cant put it in those terms. Both can live without the other when it comes down to it. But it s not optimal for either, nor for the world. What should have happened was to ask WTO to change rules re China's Status as a developing economy.
