You know you're killing it on the guitar, when your bass player stands there and stares at you with awe.

I've watched this so many times I lost count and it's still as impressive as it was the first time.

And this ladies and gentleman is what a guitar god looks and plays like……….

I play with 11g strings and am brutally strong. He plays with 13’s and makes them look like Billy Gibbons 6g. He was a monster. Very well missed to this day.

Fortunate to experience SRV in very small venues back in the day in Tx. I remember once in particular having to move our cocktail table back a couple of feet because his sweat was slinging on us. He'd play like this vid for 4 solid hours for 25 people, even instrumental solo blues sitting on the edge of the stage while the guys took a break, cigarette stuck in the headstock, hat down over his eyes in the zone. And not a single bad note...I saw him do things to that guitar that I thought were forbidden between man and inanimate object. And he just kept getting better.

And remember kids, he did all this with the thickest gauge strings you could put in a guitar.

I’ve never played guitar. It’s hard for me to imagine the amount of skill and talent it would take to come out cold and start right off at 100 mph.

SRV picked up that guitar and immediately set it on fire with how fast he was playing. One of the greats for sure.

He was a new thing. Didn't matter the inspiration or the history. That man was a true master all on his own.

Stevie Ray was the best. I don't care what polls say. The first time I say him play on Austin City Limits, I had to pick my jaw off the floor. His raw energy was off the charts. And he never missed a note.

1:41 improvising a variation on the theme, that fast and still perfectly in rythm is pretty amazing
