In this episode, Drew talks about some pet peeves with PCGS and their turnaround times. Recently, PCGS wait times have been on another level of slow. And when you want them to speed up you have to call them or reach out on social media for help. Overall, its unfortnate and all we want to see is the product to continue to be awesome. Many things within the world has been crazy, but I do think everyone can find solutions to help their business and customer satisfaction.

I very much enjoyed the humorous introduction. You have a rare talent. I know very little about pcgs processes, but I do know that the virus and its iterations have devastated consistent employment, daycare, schools, supply chains, and many older workers and care givers just were overwhelmed and many retired early. Many of those factors certainly happened at my work place. What took several days before now takes weeks and sometimes months. I hope your next submission goes better and quicker for you. Keep up the fascinating videos !!

I submitted 4 coins, 2 raw and 2 for crossover to PCGS on September 20 last year. The two crossovers have been showing "being encapsulated" for 3 weeks now. I received the two raw coins on January 5 but the photo images have yet to post. I called on January 7 to inquire why the crossovers seem to be stuck in the encapsulation process, they offered to expedite but no change in status. They also said that it would be about 2-3 weeks for the Tru-views to post on the 2 raw coins. I'm strictly a hobbyist so not really needing the coins to be turned around quickly. You are a dealer so getting your coins back and Tru-views posted is more vital.

You can thank the Type two ASE's, Reverse proof ASE's, and the Morgan and Peace dollar sets bogging every coin grading company down.

The Old Timey Intro was awesome haha 😂
I’ve learned more about coins from my misses then my big scores. At least you can take that from the 2 details Jefferson nickels

I have a PCGS platinum membership.
I'm currently waiting on a 4 coin submission they received on 4-2-22. Turnaround times for Regular were listed at 50 business days when I sent them in. It's currently 7-6-22 and the PCGS app says they're still grading.

Nice opening cartoon. I have summited coins to PCGS is the past and going to soon. I think my last order came back in the expected time. I think PCGS should reflect on themselves and their business model. After all, they are in a service industry and good service should be expected on the product, time and satisfaction of customers. Three simple rules of thinking, which leads to improvements, help businesses stay on top. This attitude should be on the company's mind set. I am a chef and these rules I mention even fit our business the same way as coin grading.

Like the tape toners....too bad they were past their prime. I think the lesson learned here is don't let the toning cloud your judgement...PCGS obviously doesn't. Toning value is subjective....the Jeffersons were beautiful..BUT the coin is what it is. Great video Drew. We all are educated. I have a Sesquicentennial half I bought raw with cool toning. I will submit it when my PCGS membership renews. Got it for a great price so crossing my fingers it doesn't come back cleaned!

I tend to agree if you aren't a big boy you are at the end of the line and I go one step further and say they get "consideration" with new products when it comes to grading

I thought about getting some coins graded through them but not sure yet and what to have graded. Nice looking coins

Shouldn't be to suprized. NGC is the same way. It just took me a little over 2 months to get my submission back. Its definitely frustrating for sure...

They have a high fee just to join them and I believe they should provide the service that is overly expensive to begin with and let people get what they pay for, higher more people or go to double shifts, but 75 day's is rediculous

I have submitted my coins in on 12/27/21 and still haven't got most of them back yet. Of 14 coins I submitted only 4 came back a week ago. I am still have 10 that is still in grading mode. I really think PCGS is just way to over rated and I am getting tire of calling them and emailing them about the rest of my coins. I am a platinum member and I want PCGS to tell me why this is taking so long. As of today 03/04/22 I am seeing them (10) coins in grading mode. Pretty frustrated !!

Getting any new pcgs toned coins is huge especially morgans. Maybe you can toss the nicklel in the personal colection but it will prbably still sell fine i wouldnt send anymore jefferson nickels unless they proofs. People do pay for stuff like that but the way i see drew is you can buy a graded proof franklin half or maybe a pre 60s communitive half dollar ( just started getting into the 1952 washington carver halfs there super undervalued) for same price or cheaper.

Was that Unc Details Nickel in that Rockefeller picture set -some are called different things and mine was called the "Silver Standard." I've got one that looks the same from 1945

They also state it’s 45 business days so take out all the holidays and weekends
I’ve had a submission there, checked in on November 2. 35 coins still in the Grading stage as of January 12
Not even close to being shipped back yet
Take out thanksgiving Christmas Xmas eve, Veterans Day New Year’s Day MLK day coming up and every weekend

But I do agree - service industries have gone downhill in all walks of life .. pandemic aside it’s gotten worse with the culture but the pandemic has crushed my industry (corp travel) and so many others. People don’t want to work anymore
Sad times

I feel your frustration on being a victim of PCGS process. I can tell you it's no better at NGC. So, as a business owner what can be done when process is out of your control? You partially answered it in the video, or at least identified a limitation which was capital. You need more of it to adapt to business conditions for inventory. If you don't have access to it, then you'll continue to be a victim of their process. More cash fixes this, not much else will. I'm not sure what your margins are, but if they're not at least 10 points, then you are not maximizing. Since you're limited on capital, perhaps limit yourself to the most profitable end of your business and not try to be everything to everybody. I have 27 years of retail and real estate experience. I know I am right. Good luck, and don't get frustrated. Fix what you can, focus on the most profitable. Keep innovating your own process. Just some of my thoughts----

You should send the problem coins to NGC. If you are confident they will get a grade

Very funny and well done video. I think the quarters would have looked better if they were dipped in acetone. No eye appeal at all
