GOL 1907 Cockpit Voice Recorder (with English subtitles)

On September 29th 2006, GOL flight 1907 was a Boeing 737-8EH aircraft, which was on route to Rio de Janeiro from Manaus. At an altitude of 37,000 feet it collided with an Embraer Legacy 600. The GOL aircraft suffered a severed wing while the Legacy only suffered damage to its winglet, which made it possible for a successful emergency landing. The GOL flight lost control, broke up, and crashed killing all 154 soles on board. The following is the CVR from the GOL flight. I TRIED MY BEST WITH SUBTITLES!

This Captain - man’s a fucking hero. Loses an entire wing in a mid air collision, tries to keep his F/O calm, and STILL tries to save the plane. I hope he and the Japan Airlines 123 flight crew met up and had some damn drinks together; they all had balls as big as the moon!

That captain was born to do that job, staring certain death in the face and all he concerned himself with was calming his colleague down on top of trying to save the jet. A mans man if ever there was one.

If the situation hadn't been hopeless I have every confidence that Captain could have saved the aircraft. He knew a calm, level headed approach was the only shot they had. Shame there was nothing he could do.

The captain was trying to work the problem right up to the end. But what he didn't know was that they'd just lost half of one wing and there was no coming back from that. Very sad.

Two things make this recording even more terrifying and sad.

Moments before the impact, the crew was just having a casual conversation and suddenly this happened.

And they crashed without having any idea of what happened to them. It was impossible to control that aircraft, one wing was destroyed by the impact and the rest of the aircraft started ripping apart due to G-Forces (you can listen the aircraft being destroyed). Despite that, they still tried to control the aircraft and fly it.

The fear in that first officer’s voice when the plane breaks up. Absolutely heartbreaking. God bless those souls on board. This shouldn’t of happened.

Unbelievable, this aircraft spun around 11 times before breaking apart. You can clearly hear the wind rushing past in waves which indicated every time the plane turned, in addition to the aural warning "bank angle". The Captain was so composed despite with what was going on.
