California Film Tax Incentive 3.0 Explained
Показать описание
The California film tax incentive program has been popular with producers ever since launching version 2.0, which did away with the old lottery system. Version 3.0 doubles down on everything that was right about that last incarnation, and carves out a dedicated pile of incentive funds for independent films in the $1M - $10M range.
In this recorded webinar from Media Services Payroll, part of a series on film tax incentive programs from different states, we discuss the new California program 3.0 in detail. What's changed, what's stayed the same... along with a guide to applying for a California tax incentive for your film.
We go over that indie film tax credit in particular, noting that in California it is fully transferable (meaning you can sell it on the open market if your production company doesn't have tax liability to offset in the state).
There are new goodies in the California incentive program for studio features and TV as well, which we explore. Those include increased funding limits and a longer period before production must begin once the film incentive application is approved. This bucket of tax credit funds is non-transferable and non-refundable, and we'll see what that means.
Join us to explore how you can utilize the California film tax credit to get up to 30% of your in-state production costs back, including bonuses and uplifts along with the state's "Jobs Ratio" calculation.
