Even if the really big finds of archaeology may already belong to the past, experts are all over the world looking for traces of former civilizations and their remains. In the process, small and large things are found every day that help to establish connections and better understand the origins of today's civilization. Again and again, archaeologists come across treasures whose meaning and contents they almost can't believe at first. The following finds are about things that you either never expected or where you were amazed to find such treasures even after so many years of excavations.

Saying scientists are "scared" by new discoveries is despicable clickbait. Nothing makes archaeologists, historians, and paleontologists happier than finding something new an unexpected.

How in hell a scientist be afraid of what he has dedicated his life with passion?

I wish I would of been interested in this back in high school. Now I’m 28 and find all this so fascinating. I’ve definitely learned more in the last 5-6 years from life experience and internet/YouTube than I did all through out school.

My visit to the ancient Egyptian sites were mind boggling, just the sheer size and beauty of the statues and edifices. Was one of my most memorable experiences.

Thousand of years from now, someone will be going thru our mountains of garbage dumps, trying to understand our way of life. Amazing

It’s obviously clear that humanity has experienced many iterations of civilization: developing and failing throughout time. No doubt at least some of them have reached a high level of knowledge and technology. I believe we should recognize that human development has not been linear, rather civilizations are cyclical. To assume that we are currently the pinnacle of knowledge and our ancestors were somehow “less than” is a huge mistake. We should study former civilizations to try and determine what made them fail before we repeat the mistakes of our ancestors.

If a discovery crawls out of some ancient canopic jar found in a tomb and wraps it little legs around your head, then ya, that’d be scary.

If you go to Giza, inside de pyramids, you realized that there aren't tombs but something better like generators. That's why there aren’t inscriptions; those ones are made in latter periods. Pyramids were there before the Egyptians.

Putting our time and effort in activities and investments that will yield a profitable return in the future is what we should be aiming for. Success depends on the actions or steps you take to achieve it.

Scientists are not afraid of discoveries, but I would think that any discoveries would provide updates to their acquired knowledge base.🇨🇦

The Romans did not get driven out when Rome fell. They stayed and intermarried in the population. The British people are a mixture of various people, it's one of the things that makes the people there strong.

lol Look at this Egyptian site! Globe zooms in on Boston :D I love learning about ancient societies and things discovered around the world that disprove a lot of common assumptions people like to make. The first humans in the Americas really was amazing. I am deeply troubled by how many places are suffering from droughts large enough to uncover lost sites. Like it's a neat find but it's kind of like finding a gold ingot in your house as it burns down.
