Three Mile Island was the worst nuclear disaster in American history, but everything you've heard about it could be wrong.

Forty years later, The YEARS Project has partnered with Exelon to take a look back.

Nothing was said about the dangers of mining uranium or the major problem of dealing with the nuke waste that stays radioactive for centuries, or Chernobyl, or Fukushima, which is still melting down and pouring its radiation into the sea! Perhaps these problems can someday be resolved, but not by hiding them! How can nukes be made more safe and cheaper than solar and wind energy? How can we process or use the deadly waste to make it safe, permanently? Until these questions are discussed openly, and fully answered, I have to vote no on nukes!

What is needed is a different type of nuclear power. LFTR reactors are the way of the future, the chinese and indians are working on variations of that. The tech is still being worked out but they appear to be way safer to operate for many reasons.

I wonder who funded this? And no, a map of nuclear reactors dotting the country does not give me comfort. Chernobyl was human error, but Fukushima was caused by an act of nature unpreventable and unanticipated by humans. As the number of reactors increases, so do the odds of disaster. We simply cannot be blinded by the admitted benefits of nuclear power and ignore the risks, as the risks are are so great. Why isn't fusion the utmost priority?

Play some emotional tune and tell everybody it’s so good and clean for the environment and we can all have a warm glow from the stockpile of unprocessed waste and miles of disaster zones and numerous dumping grounds used by the nuclear industry not to mention the massive “ clean up from disasters ( that’s moving the waste to a big hole And pretend it’s ok for the next ten thousand years. )
