In this video I go though the three ‘gottachas’ or issues I faced when setting up and using the DJI Transmitter unit which is part of their new SDR transmission system. I was using it independently of the dedicated receiver in Wifi mode. There is some comparative analysis between the Accsoon Cineview Nano and the DJI SDR Transmitter. Finally there’s also a bonus reveal towards the end of the video about how to monitor your video on larger WiFi enabled devices like the Apple Mac M1 and M2 Laptops and Desktops.

Idk if I missed it, but another gotcha is no Active Track. People thinking they’re basically getting a Raveneye Pro are in for a surprise.
Also the unit I bought was defective; tX overheated and shut down after about 15 minutes shooting in an air conditioned office. Hopefully the replacement units don’t have this issue

Bonus gotcha: It seems that the receivers can’t power the tablets or phones they’re plugged into. Supposedly it will slow down the discharge in phones, but tablets are out of luck. This is actually the biggest problem in my opinion. Since it occupies the USB port on the phone/tablet, you’re SOL if you’re out in the field and the phone battery dies. I suppose you could switch over to wifi transmission and charge the phone, but it’s still an annoying thing to have to worry about when juggling a hundred other things on set. Not to mention, the latency is significantly higher in wifi mode so not great if you have a focus puller (although tbh I’d recommend an entirely different system if there’s any major focus pulling)

Thanks a lot. I stumbled upon the anamorphic desqueeze issue with my Ronin 4D. When I got it I didn't even think that this kind of thing could be an issue. I mean - it's like 100 lines of code to do that thing. And it's like "WHAT?". Actually sitting right now trying to find a workaround. I think I can manage it by chaging a device resolution :D

I agree with initial setup. Its not smooth. But its one time thingy.

Just FYI: you don’t need the battery attached with the DJI Gimbals. it’s powered from the Gimbal.

anybody know why i'm getting 9mbs instead of 20mbs in control mode? Broadcast is turned off. but i'm only getting 9-10

I updated mine with a usb c cable no problem, however why do you have to register and update transmitters before use is just crazy.

IMO DJI products always fall below par for me and there are far too many shills online who over hype there products, not to mention their products basically come with zero instructions and you have to discover these issues through trial and error.

The monitoring for these on the Ronin app feels so tacked on and is just total crap.

DJI you have great boxes, marketing and design but there are too many problems with your products on release which get patched later, sort it out!

Can u control sony camera with RX and TX units and monitor or for that purpose WIFI and tablet and phone is needed ?

The other gotchya is that it also disables ActiveTrack on the gimbals.. looks like an absolute fail for gimbal and Ronin app users.

your first gotcha was a bad cable. Nothing DJI did.
