zebras are a great way to do this as well. you can set them to 60% (optimal for skin tones) or 95% for sky details etc. i use them a lot on the bmpcc and gh4. great video!

Amateur here!!! Got thrown in the deep end to film a weekend camp. (I usually help out with editing, never filmed before). Half of it is exposed! Dang! Now you tell me about the histogram. I thought that was just an annoying graphic that I figured I'd deal with later. Never again! Learning in leaps and bounds. Thank you so much for this much needed advice. New subscriber!

I had to learn my exposure tricks the HARD way...I had to learn and really put the Shutter Rule into effect!!

Thanks a lot for your feedback. I was still learning with my camera and some of the overexposed shot you mentionned were shot with an old gopro (no manual settings...). Also I shot most of these in LOG mod and I've heard that you have to overexpose while shooting in LOG (usually I tried to overexpose by 0, 3 to 0, 7 EV), but then should you bring exposure down in post ? Anyway thank you a lot for taking the time to watch that long video and for giving me feedback on it :)

but...but...with the sony a6300 they when using s.log2 they say always over expose 2 stops
