My last Golden absolutely loved having the TV on for company. I verified it with a Nest camera. After he passed away, I did the same for my new Golden, who shows no interest or is shown in another room. Not stressed in the least, just not interested. The volume is always low to medium and it is something low-key like a cooking show or Lucky Dog. So I think it depends on the dog.
