Good video. I would suggest the Muddy Pro Sticks (very packable and functional) as the low-budget option with a sale price of $139 for a 4-pack. I would also upgrade the sticks with 1 Amsteel aider for about $20 allowing me to hunt with 3 sticks. I might also suggest replacing the tether system with the Hunter's Safety Slap Strap ($160) for its functional advantage as my upgrade choice. Weight is not an issue with saddle hunting, so I don't consider this something worth spending more money on to achieve less weight. Saving 3-5 lbs on a setup makes little sense to justify the extreme cost difference. Focus spending on function over weight.

I ordered the mutant because of the included tether and lineman's rope. Also, because of your review and others on the mutant saddle. I have the skeletor sticks I got on sale in the spring.

The Xop full rut kit which gives you climbing sticks, platform, ropes, saddle and a backpack is a great option for $450 without a discount code. It includes the Mutant saddle now instead of the Mondo so I think that makes it an even sweeter deal.

Thanks for the info! Love your videos. I run the xop x2 sticks and they bite the tree like no other. Nearly impossible to have a kick out. I ditched the heavy straps and replaced them with the webbing straps from hawk that normally go with the helium sticks. You can get the straps for next to nothing. To me it’s an awesome combo!

If you stay with the hawk sticks, you can also get the HSP platform that mounts on top of the sticks

Great recommendations. The bullman outdoors platform ring of steps is another great option at $100. I have traditional platforms like the hunt arsenal rzr and the trophy line mission, but I like the platform steps most. Though I personally think the bullman ros is best for sitting so having a comfortable saddle for sitting is important if you go that route or having a hard sole boots if you prefer to lean. Bullman outdoors also offers the same steps for climbing I’m guessing around the same price. I haven’t messed around with it but it looks like a far better option than sticks though it probably has a bigger learning curve

I would say to make it easy just go all XOP. You can get the sticks, saddle bundle, and platform with a promo code for $431 with free shipping. Take the buckles off of the stick straps and learn the buckless method and you have a very very nice set up that even a lot of veteran saddle hunters would be happy with. One thing I will say though is that knee pads or a tree pad are a must and should be a factor when considering startup price.
