MAUGA GAMEPLAY | New Overwatch 2 Hero From Blizzcon

Blizzard let me stream the new Overwatch 2 tank hero from Blizzcon, Mauga!

In this Overwatch 2 video, Salty Phish showcases the new tank hero Mauga and all of his abilities live from Blizzcon. We show his primary fire, incendiary chaingun and his secondary fire, volatile chaingun. His overrun ability can charge forward while being unstoppable. His cardiac overdrive can allow him and nearby allies to take reduced damage and heal by dealing damage. He gains temporary health when dealing critical damage. His ultimate ability is called Cage Fight, where he deploys a barrier that traps him and enemies while having unlimited ammo.

His main weapons and lack of defense really makes him feel like tf2 heavy. The charge really doesnt feel like that much of an initiate or offensive skill because he cant really sustain himself after that, but feels more like an aggressive repositioning tool, like charging past enemies into cover that is close range so you can kill people in cover using his main weapons. Feels like that even more so considering his charge prevents cc like sleep or other stuns so you cant just punish his reposition.

Also, he seems quite insane with some kind of hybrid dive brawler comp. Like imagine lucio reaper and him. He charges into the enemy team and just knocks people up, ults if he has, and uses his damage = healing. Reaper will be nigh unkillable with 3 sources of healing, and now the enemy team has a choice of either killing the tank and dying to the reaper, or vice versa. Throw in bap and mei and I think the enemy team is gonna have a real bad time.

Edit: As someone who used to be a heavy main, a tip might be: See 1 person at 1 time and shoot 1 person at 1 time. Your weapons are single target damage. Being able to see 2 people at once just means that there are 2 sources of damage hitting you, while you dont increase in damage.

Non-tf2 tip. Seems like most of his damage comes from when he is able to set people on fire, and that is dependant on how much damage youve done already using his incendiary weapon. Considering he has high damage fall off, you really want to avoid attacking from anything other than pretty close range.

Mauga looks a lot like Maui from Moana who’s played by the former wrestler Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Johnson is also known for starring as the Foundation in the Fortnite chapter 2 storyline. He costarred alongside Troy Baker who took on the role of Agent Jonesy. Troy played the co lead Rhys in the hit game from 2014 titled: Tales from the Borderlands.
This character and video are undisputedly hinting at the fact that Philippe Noisey aka the Salty Phish will return to the beloved video series that brought him to fame in which he played and commentated Tales from the Borderlands

Funny thing about his ult, it activates in the air. It also pulls players with it if the centre device is moving. With those, you can actually pull enemies off the map, provided there is no railing in the way.

Sadly, I didn't get the opportunity in actual games, and it seems you don't get the kill credit either from what I tested against bots.

To make the stun land, i find jumping before you make contact is the kicker, you need to land pretty directly on to an enemy to knock them down, and it counts as a crit so it applies your passive at a larger number, about 30-40 hp per stunned target. I also find that you can succed by running people into corners so they dont have anywhere to fly away too when you jump
