I've had it and the wakazzashi for years my two favorite CS machetes. I have Kydex sheaths for mine and refinished the blade and ground down and wrapped the handle and reprofiled the grind so they cut better and smoother. They're much better with a few mods.

In a way, machetes are swords. "Sword" is a very broad category. In the past even epees were called swords. Many south asian swords are used like machetes, for example "ginunting".

The grip will cut your hand to shit, the blade is too long for its 1055 steel and will bend super easily. As a machete its horrible i wouldn't touch anything 3in or more and no hardwood, there are cheap machetes far more durable than this.. as a katana its horrible, but what would you really expect for the price. as a katana machete its unique but i wouldn't pull it out for any real work, might be good to muck about in the backyard with for a few months.

1. It's not a sword, it's a machete because it's not the thickness of a sword and may or may not be full tang, 2. That was not impressive, because all you cut was a thin flimsy plastic water jug, like even a sharpened un heat treated aluminum blade could cut that, you should have cut into hard oak or some rib meat and bones that would have been impressive if the blade had no rolls or nicks I'm the edge after that.
