I agree with all of this. As much as music streaming is becoming more and more predominant, I don’t think “physical” tracks on a usb will be replaced any time soon, if not ever. In my humble opinion I think it gives DJs a piece of mind and is and something to fall back on👍

I’m somewhat new to DJing and frankly am grateful to have started at a time when streaming sources were a viable means to cut my teeth on the art as a “Bedroom/House Party DJ”. I agree in that I expect it to become more of a norm for equipment and software integration, especially as wireless telecommunications continue to mature which is rather exciting for me.

On that note I’m also grateful to have advanced in DJing at time which allowed me to experience an atypical impression of more advanced gear. By that I mean it I was looking to graduate from my DDJ-400 controller at time where I was able to fairly objectively (i.e. without any sense of brand loyalty) compare Pioneer equipment with Denon equipment find the current line of high-end Denon equipment more feature rich than CDJ-3000s, went with Denon and am happy I did.

I'm giving serious consideration to learning how to DJ since I've always had a connection to music. However, I can't listen to that hip hop and rap crap so I'm going to stick with mostly 80's music. Maybe some 60's and 70's too.

I am really hoping Pioneer catches up with Denon. But this may be an oppotunity for Denon to do what Drake did with "Back to Back" when he and Meek Mill beef.

Pioneer has a lot of catching up to do. Denon is giving them a run for their money since Rick went to work for them.

I predict that the DJ Jazzy Jeff course will be great!
I think the supply chain shortage and gear shortage will continue. I do not think there will be a lot of new hardware this year (due to the pandemic throwing a wrench in schedules). Streaming will continue, but will not reach back to the place it had at the start of the pandemic. I think Engine software will continue to expand (more brands of controllers) as well as Rekordbox (cloud services and more under the hood features in the CDJ 3000). I hope to see some kind of combo Beatport/ beatsource stream sub.

In a lot of areas of Australia the internet is not great so I am not sure how quickly streaming will be adopted down here. I know there are people that use those services frequently in the city areas because If you're in a city it's ok, depending on how much the politicians like that suburb, but everywhere else it's very patchy. I live in a regional area and the internet drops out frequently so it's not a viable option here.

I agree with this statement and as DJ ing is in the main stream society & find hard to get into the clubs again due to coranaviris but am still learning new skills, how do we get in touch with clubs again for getting DJ sets

Do you think the music industry will sort itself out in regards to its old DMCA… this is the most serious issue all DJs are facing nowadays… (pls don’t mention mixcloud 😂)

I believe we’ll see the XZ and it’s gonna underwhelm I don’t think pioneer planned for streaming being so popular. I think engine is gonna be expanded because of the success of the mixstream. Numark will likely drop a big pro level controller

Can somebody explain me that using spotify music converters are legal to use music as a mp3 format, or it is better to buy music tracks?

I see way more DJs reverting back to vinyl and it is long overdue.

I am strictly vinyl only and if need be i bring my vinyl decks to booked gigs. My goal is to bring back vinyl in clubs/parties/festivals as options for vinyl sets. Many artists being forced to going into digital to play specific bookings cause they do not hook up analog gear along with digital.

The response and respect you get for defying the digital norms nowadays is incredible. So many keep saying that you will be shunned or have push back if you are vinyl only in a digital age. From experience that is not the case at least here in the US. The old school ravers praise you and the nu school kids are intrigued by vinyl DJing and in many instances blows them away cause they grew up knowing nothing but CDJs/ubs digital format.

There will always be extreme die hards like myself who are vinyl only and are kept from performing gigs cause of this and it is wrong. Having that option for vinyl in the clubs and festivals open the door again for those artists and will draw more heads to venues.

What we are going through now is a worldwide nostalgia period. Vintage and classic styles of techno are resurfacing and are turning heads and catching ears. These aspects are not something to be underestimated in the current state of things in the world.
