Singapore's National Heritage Board will study the Oxley Road site to assess if it is worthy of being preserved as a national monument.

It noted that Singaporeans have a “diverse range of views” on the matter and added that if it makes an order to preserve the site, the government "will have the time needed" to consider the different options identified in the 2018 ministerial committee report on 38 Oxley Road.

Fulfilling LKY's wish of demolishing the family home, how difficult is it really? Isn't that the very least Singaporeans like us who has benefited from his leadership and his building up of SG from nothing, to help fulfil? Honestly do we really need the actual site? Don't need. Just do a model will do. This is what LKY wanted. Come on....

Better not mess with the old man’s wishes for fear of ‘repercussions’ from the after world. Dont be mistaken the old man ‘rules from the grave’

Please respect the will of lky. Such historical site do not hold any memories to me. Not to any 4G pap members as well. If want to keep this setting why not replicate on another site or at the national museum of Singapore.

First LHL sold all his shares to his siblings. Then a ministerial committee was convened to preserve the house. How honorable.

I totally disagree. This is a family home, and does not belong to the Singapore government. Let Lee Hsien Yang decide on what to do as he owns this private property. This is why Singapore is in such a mess on this right now.

Respect Mr Lee Kuan Yew wishes. His fighting spirit, wisdom, greatness will forever be remembered in future generations, not this house. We don't care. Lee Kuan Yew is already a legend.

What a disgrace to even talk of preserving it when LKY expressly said multiple times to demolish it and prevent hero worship. LHL should be ashamed of having appointed any minister who wants to create a relic of political power.

I don’t understand how they can disregard a man’s will.

There is saying in Chinese that applies aptly to the government's response. It's literally translated as "Eat well, too idle". This is a private affair, LHY owns the property, the government should steer well clear of a family affair. There are far far more important things for the government to focus on, unless the quote truly applies to them.

If LKY had expressed his inherent desire to have it demolished, please extend the tiniest shred of respect for the deceased and do what is right. Don’t twist and turn the facts to just serve your own agenda. Shameless!

Why not just take some photographs or videos of the house or even take some of the furnitures and reconstructs the rooms with pieces of the house with historical values where important decisions were made, at the upcoming Founder‘s Memorial?

The feud started by LHY only after his father passed away should not have happened as the property like many others when deemed by the law for its historical or other values will benefit Sg. So the Lees are subjected to the same law. The Singapore government formed a Ministerial Committee in 2018 to consider several options for the property, including the possibility of preservation due to its historical significance in Singapore’s political history which is in line with the law. Many buildings like Churches, etc... also face similar situations for the preservation of historical values that benefits Sg'poreans. So LHY cannot be above the law!
The Alkaff Mansion(residence) is also a historical landmark in Singapore, originally constructed in 1918 by the Alkaff family, now a historical site. With this, the saga should not continue so the Lees can heal over time without media attention.
