Soft tones are the sweetest I've ever heard. Not too often you can hear a sound that would be pleasant to listen all day. I moved the time back to hear it again. I could go for a loop on that one.

Personally I think the pickups sound just fine. Looks like a great solid bass, and I like the ease of truss rod access and the string thru body option. You're right, this is a very interesting model. I like it.

There is NOTHING like the tone of a good Fender Jazz Bass... So versatile. From RnB to metal.. You are covered! If you aren't loving on the PUPs.. Seymour Duncan 1/4 pound PUPs kick ass in a Jazz Bass.. My Geddy Lee has them in now :)

This is exactly what has been missing from Fender's lineup every since they got rid of the American Standard, a regular made-in-the-USA line of basses. No active electrics or vintage recreations that skyrocket the price to over $2, 000. And props for offering more than 3 finishes this time.

I love mine. I also love the pick ups. I am predominantly a Precision bass player, as that sound just resonates for me. Due to my love of John Entwistles early sound (Live at Leads), Bruce Foxton (once he moved away from the Ricky’s), Jame Jamerson and Steve Harris.
I wanted something a bit different but not too far away from the sound of the Pbass. This is the first and in my experience the only Jazz that can get close to that Pbass sound and still provide the Jazz tones that I was searching for. As one of my other favourite bass players is Geddy Lee.
So well done Fender, for me this is an absolute winner.

I just got this exact jazz bass for Christmas. His comments about the finish and pups are spot on. The finish doesn't look quite as badass as the pictures, and the pups seem a little tame for my taste. Fender apparently honored user suggestions and designed a pickup that were more even sounding?? Oh LOVE the damn thing. Great tone and superb playability. The weight and balance is sweet.

I bought one of these and loved it after setting it up. I threw a set of Aguilar passive jazz pickups and some better strings and I now love it much as my vintage fenders and both my foderas.
