“There’s no yellow bricks to follow back and run from that disaster”
That line is so powerful when you understand the context of this song. After defeating queen Carolina, her downfall is viewed as a disaster, in the sense that our protagonist feels guilty for doing what is right, but it moves on into part 2 with the former outcast king singing about his victory, with him growing from the beginning, he is now “getting the ending right”

I feel like the outcast king is so much more of an important character than the protagonist, like the protagonist doesn’t really have a character arc, whereas the outcast king goes through the theme of the album “face the music” face your problems, don’t run away.
