For anyone who didn't read the LN and is interested: This scene was important for him to know if he can actually use his Aincrad experience in GGO.
If I remember correctly, the Novel said a few things: Aincrad doesn't use magic so ranged weapons were few and far between. To survive against those weapons He learned to read their aim and eyes: Hence he moves around in this clip ( 0:35) to see if the NPC has that level of detail. And again, at 1:02 he could tell that the NPC didn't look defeated, it was still holding an ultimate skill, so he jumped even without knowing what it was.
Jeez I feel like a geek. I really like Aincrad, so I wanted to see how many new Aincrad references were in the sequels. This scene was quick and not much was.... noticed? Films tend to cut inner monologue. "Predict the predictions" is cringy (as is this comment) but I like how the LN gave a bit of basis he couldn't put into proper words.
