00:00 Retro Fragrances Introduction

If a fragrance has been around since the 70s, 80s, or 90s, can it still be red-hot for warm-weather wear? Or has it totally burned away?

Retro fragrances tend to offer great value because they are literally time-tested. But don’t have the mark-ups of the latest, newest, trendiest fragrances.

00:49 Eau de Cologne Hermès (Eau d’Orange Verte) (1979)
02:13 Tuscany per Uomo by Aramis (1984)
03:28 Cool Water by Davidoff (1988)
05:03 Eternity for Men by Calvin Klein (1990)
06:31 JF by Floris (1992)
07:39 Nautica by Nautica (1992)
09:07 Blue Jeans by Versace (1994)
10:24 Millesime Imperial by Creed (1995)
12:05 Burberry Weekend for Men (1997)

So, how do these fragrances stack up?

13:14 Kyle's Picks and Ranking

So, how does my list compare to yours? Let us know in the comments! We’d also love to hear from viewers who wore these original scents back in the day.

Aramis always makes me think of my Dad. Birthday tomorrow! Funny story about Hermes. My parents were off to Paris & asked what I wanted. Only 18 I said a Kelly bag. My mom burst out laughing but brought home the cologne for my brother & myself 😊

One doesn't just show up in a blazer this fabulous and not tell us where it's from!

Love the outfit today, Kyle - the colors harmonize so well. Love the fragrance videos, too!

Eternity and cool water are amazing! Also Kyle is certified best!! I love every video he makes, his insight and narration style are top tier!

I remember my great-aunt (of blessed memory) used to wear Aramis men's scents.

I myself am a longtime fan of Eternity for Men.

HAHA! Slow dancing to G&R’s “November Rain” in the high school gymnasium while wearing a polka dot dress shirt and literally slathered in Eternity for Men. Was I a classic gentleman in the early 90s? Hardly, but that scent still brings back fond memories, and I’ve always maintained a summer stash.

As an avid Gentleman’s Gazette watcher who is in high school, I would ask you kind people to consider making a video on back to school supplies. Perhaps it could cover writing utensils, stationary, bags, and other items that are classic, historical, and affordable. Thank you for what you all do.

I was a blue jeans guy in my early teens in the early 2000s then moved onto cool water in the 2010s.

Just wanted to say thanks for the recent response and explanation on Franken Trousers it really put the topic in a deeper perspective so I really appreciate it. Hopefully you all don't think that I was trying to argue with you or anything like that as I am always respectful of your input on many of the subjects as once in awhile I am curious about certain aspects of the garments. On my next trip to the Thrift store I will definitely search for Linen slacks with belt loops rather than drawstring although for Summer there is nothing wrong with Drawstrings in a more casual environment like you previously put it. Should I perhaps stick with the thrift store instead of Express for Dress pants? I'm sure it makes more sense budget wise but I understand it's up to me.

I wish they would redo Nautica Voyage to make it have better longevity. And Cool Water Intense is an awesome flanker.

When I was in high school in the 80's there was one called Canoe that I used that was popular.

Petfect Timing amd Perfect Video! I just wouldve added Roma Uomo by Laura Biagotti too. Its a lemon and vanilla combination and its perfect for the warm weather. Only its longevity is miserable.

I wear the Hermes Eau d’orange verte concentrate in the summer.

What about 50s 60s colognes that are replicated today? Could someone direct me to some classics?
