Who has seen this before?
p.s minor cases can be fixed, but something like this is there to stay. You can search "screen burn in fix" and keep a video running for a few hours. In my experience, it never works for any display I've had brought to me but It's worth mentioning.

The only "Fix" I am aware of is to run the phone in "inverted colors" mode while displaying the same image that was burned onto the screen. It evens out the wear and can make the burn in appear to be gone.

I always thought that screen savers were like an energy saving thing, I had no idea it was literally what it says it is

The easiest way to see screen burn in is looking at an old arcade cabinet like Pac-Man where the map doesn't change shape and gets burnt into the CRT

That happened to my TV lol, when i was younger i used to watch a lot Cartoon Network, so if you change channel the CN logo it's still here xD

My question has always been this: how long is "too long" for leaving one single image up on the screen like that? When I was a kid my dad used to tell me to change the screen within like 5 minutes to get it to not burn the image, but obviously it's not that short of a time... are we talking an hour? Hours? A day?

This happens on my phone as well, if I’m on an app for too long you can faintly see that app on my screen even though it’s not there.
It usually goes away after a while but it can be quite annoying sometimes.

I've had it with all three of my smartphones so far, usually after about 1-1.5 years it starts to be noticable. Learned to keep my brightness down, stay mostly in darkmode and not let the sun ahine on it/let it get too hot. I'm not too bothered by it, honestly, if i'd change the screen every time i can just as well spend that money on a new phone after some time (i don't, i usually use mine for at least ~3-4 years or until they break)

LCD doesn’t get burn in. It has image retention but it’ll go away most likely.

I always thought screensavers were useless and just something funny to have in your screen if you were AFKing. Every day we learn something new

If you have an LCD phone screen, it's actually called image retention and is fixable with a simple youtube video. Search for a long image retention fixer video on youtube and play it at max brightness and make sure it's zoomed in to fill your phone screen's aspect ratio (i.e. no black bars)

If you have an OLED phone screen, then you're out of luck and need a new screeen.

For iPhones, the following have an LCD screen.
All home button iPhones, plus the iPhone XR and iPhone 11. If you have any home button iPhone or the xr or 11 and it does get image retention, you can fix it with the mentioned steps.

Maximum brightness, reverse colors, always on display and let it sit at the exactly image that got burn in. It will burn the unburned areas and soften or make the marks disappear. It will cost you screen brightness but better a dimmer display than a marked display. You can also switch between light and dark mode if the burn is only the top status bar.

I personally do this everytime I feel the burns are getting visible. But also I stopped setting my screen brightness too high.
