This song was David Whitfield's biggest hit, thanks in large part to the accompaniment provided by Mantovani and his Orchestra. It was Number 1 in the UK charts for 25 weeks during 1954 and also had a big success in the USA charts. Whitfield had several other big chart successes, such as "Answer Me," "I Believe," "Rags to Riches," "Mama," and so on but "Cara Mia" topped the lot.
