Monitor support, profiles and an enhanced multi tasking are probably top of my list as well.

The Ram cap may be for backwards comparability with the other current gen iPads. Or to prevent the OS from getting blocked by an app

Thanks for this in-depth review and awesome presentation of each detail. Kindly guide me through two things:
1) Do the ipads tend to bend with time ?
2) Apart from mini led XDR display whether the 11" ipad effect my productivity, i.e., reading & note-taking ?

iPadOS 15 needed (or wanted) features:
1) Better/higher memory use
2) Better multitasking
3) Multiuser login
4) File management system
5) External monitor support
6) Full speed/throughput on Thunderbolt 3/USB 4 (40GB)
7) Better widget support (size, placement, and flexibility)
8) Support for Pro apps
9) Download/upload status bar for file transfer (part of #4)
10) Window tiling (with sizing and free form movement on screen) when using multiple apps like on MacOS

As always Chris, great video and you make the content easy to digest with your smooth talk and composed presentations. Looking forward to Part 2 of this as well. Personally holding off on the iPad Pro this year as I like to see what evolved Y1 to Y2 and who know..M2? Also the 5 gig RAM limit used to be 6 gig RAM limit in prior models, so specifically why is it a gig less in 2021 on M1? That's the question for WWDC, Chris. Great job though in this one.

That closer focal point should be great for scanning documents which is what I mostly use the iPad camera for. My only other use is photographing whiteboards and the wide camera is ideal for that.

I don't care what the pundits say. I think the 2021 iPP 12.9" screen is "Bloomin' beautiful". I'm not having any real light blooming issues on mine that I noice in use. The screen is much improved over my 2018 iPP Pro! That said, how is that beautiful white MK holding up dirt/grease wise vs. a black MK?

I have a 2016 mbp, totally time for a new one . Do you think Lightroom classic will come to the m1 iPad Pro???

The memory limit is in place, not for this family of iPad, but for the ones that came before. Most apps will need recompiling once the limits are removed. It is very odd that the external storage would not get recognized. It could be a defect or a cable issue. I think you are using the TB3 cable, so it should be able to see the drives, unless something internal is defective. I assume it connects just fine on an MBP?

Great review, as ususal. But just to clarify - if you're doing photo editing in Lightroom do the images also look noticeably better on the 12.9inch than the 11inch M1 iPad screen? Even if they're not HDR images?

Although in my 60s, I am definitely in the camp of preferring the iPad multitasking to Mac. Just a lot more organised and not messy like the Mac. Also very rarely would I need to have more than 3 apps open at once - usually no more than 2. I much prefer the iPad experience as it is now, although improvements I hope will come at WWDC in particular are to Files app, enhancement of Mail (rules and Smart Folders), ability to upload sound files to Music and being able to compress Pages document. I hope more ‘Pro’ apps come to iPad Pro for those that want, but basically everything I need for my work and leisure use is already there. That new XDR screen is incredible and watching one of my videos filmed with Dolby HDR on my iPhone 12 Pro Max brings a smile to my face.

I hate that so many of the good apps like for note taking are subscription based. Can i just pay one price for an app and be done? No app is worth a subscription. Especially when note taking is free on the iPad app and on a real notebook.

That 5gb handicap is the biggest disappointment. I hope they rectify that quickly, as I’ve been hitting the RAM bottleneck on a bunch of apps. For my use case I don’t need anything else just open up the RAM. Like why have 16gb option? Right now kinda feels I wasted my money, though I can’t imagine that won’t be fixed soon.

Mostly it needs to let more run in the background.
