You make it sound like the British Museum is a store house for stolen items. The items you mentioned are in far safer hands within the museum than they would be anywhere else. The people requesting these items back wouldn't have the expertise or resources or even a feasible plan in the preservation of these artifacts. If that manky looking piece of wood they call a shield is within the custody of the museum, you can guarantee that it will be perfectly preserved there until the museum ceases to exist. In fact, the museum should be charging them for the care and housing of their culturally significant artifacts, there is no place in the world better suited to ensuring their legacy.
