This is a Drum Cover of a Medley I made from Meshuggah's 2008 album release ObZen and is the copyrighted property of its owner(s).

From this album I choose my favourite parts from each song, cut them up and made the medley in Protools. I didn't alter the pitch or speed of any song. I wanted the transitions between each song to be as smooth and unnoticeable as i could whilst still keeping similar energy between songs. For the song 'Bleed' I really love the simplistic vocal phrasing over the opening riff so i played it on the snare to complement the part. All the other songs i played as close to the recording as i could.

Playing the vocals on the snare in Bleed, genius. Also show's that Jens plays a part in the rhythm of the song like everyone else.

Yeah I need to transcribe everything by ear first and then read through it when practicing it. This insures I play all the parts right from the very start. Other people have different processes of remembering material. This just works for me

the fascinating thing about this guy is that besides playing metal music like a beast he has probably mastered most techniques most drummers ignore, not only double stroke kick drum patterns which by itself is pretty hard to master, he also has his hands flying like a jazz drummer. I think that is fucking amazing
