Hi everyone,

I got the rear center dual cat back exhaust system from Solo Performance and decided to do a quick before and after so you can all see how nice this aftermarket exhaust sounds.

Here's the link for the Solo Performance exhaust:

Also, smartcar111 posted a 2-part video reviewing this same exhaust:

Part1:

Part 2:

And here is the description for this exhaust from the Solo guys themselves:

Solo Performance has meticulously designed this Smart Car Rear Center Dual (RCD) exhaust kit for the Smart Car enthusiasts. This is our louder exhaust kit and with the unique rectangular exhaust tip that was designed specifically for the Smart Car, you’re sure to turn heads. Months of research and development went into this kit and it works as good as it looks.

Loudness: 1-10 scale (1 being stock quiet and 10 being rockin’ noisy):

This kit rates at a solid 7. This is a “sound on demand” exhaust kit and what we mean by that is it is not “loud” all the time. The loudness and softness is directly related to what you do with the gas petal. How you drive the car produces many different “octaves” and the range of exhaust note is quite remarkable. There is no “trouble” RPM ranges or drone areas. The deep basey sound of the Solo Smart Center Single is incredible.
You will have people wondering about what engine swap you did. Once you’re at cruising speed, whether in town or on the highway, the sound levels out quickly and becomes quiet.
This is the exact same product as the Solo Smart – Center Single stainless steel exhaust kit except the tip is different.

Kit Specs:

This is a full stainless steel exhaust kit. Even the flanges, welds and hangers are all stainless. Our very uniquely designed muffler (it has internals like no other) is stainless steel both inside and out. Our flex pipe is a double braided unit which is not only extra strong, but it also eliminates whistling and vibrations that are associated with lesser quality flex pipes. Our hangers are reinforced to eliminate annoying and unnecessary breakage and the pipes are mandrel bent stainless. If you have the stock valence you will have to trim it to allow the tip to fit. The stock exhaust weighs 21 pounds while the Solo RCD weighs only 12 pounds.

We are very proud of the fit and function of our Smart Side Exit exhaust kit and know you will enjoy it very much. Many of our customers have told us it’s like bolting on a piece of art to their Smart!

Thanks, man.. dat exhaust sounds so much better than stock lol. Might get that when the stock muffler needs replacing. Was it difficult to cut the rear valence to clear the exhaust tips? How did u do it?

Nice video, thanks for sharing. Just purchased a mint 2008, yellow 451 Cabrio with 45K... thinking about adding new exhaust, like this, which isn't too loud. However, I cannot decided wheather to go with dual tip out, or single wide out.

Also, any suggestions on a nice replacement black rear valence with the center cutout? Thanks!

Hey man, quick question on the install. Were you able to hook it up with just the rear valance off?

I would go to a ricers car ‘show’. Wear some over the top car color matching clothes and bling. Talk some serious smack. Do burnouts. Beoooch! Then crawl away at 2 mph, bumping some old school rap.
