I'm sorry, I don't understand the question. The exhaust drives the turbo and has a waste gate for when pressure gets to high so it can be relieved. The pistons suck air in on their down stroke and push exhaust out on the up stroke as far as pressure in and out is concerned. (the other up stroke is compressing air fuel and the down is the power/ignition stroke) So the exhaust is pressurized to go out by compression. Air is springy- it can stretch and compress. The exhaust pressure is greater.

They're fun- but Especially with lasers and strobes!

I have an old 25 gallon barrel full of small vacuum and fuel lines trans cooler and PS lines. I have a second one full of filler neck, and radiator hoses for stuff like this. When ever a parts store had inventory that's not labeled or damaged it goes to me. ; )

Exhaust pressure is greater- when things are being "sucked" there's a vacuum or negative pressure drawing in the air into the intake.

They vary, but typically they just check the computer for codes on cars 1996 and newer. to sell a car in the US it has to be On Board Diagnostics second generation compliant so such tests will work.

It's not like that- You've heard of "turbo lag"? When the turbo is being "spun up" The pressure could be quite high before the turbo and 1psi after the turbo.

Good thinking, smoking cigars is the scotty kilmer way, but i wouldnt touch one either, this seems a much less toxic way to do it.

Hi again Brian, I want to thank you for all the info you share. I have started my own channel thanks to your efforts. I would like to send you my version of the paint can smoke machine. You can see it if you search out my video of a homemade evap smoke machine. If you would like one please send me some contact info on my video comments.

I've had it in mind on the back burner for about eight years now.

Would this smoke machine setup work to check for exhaust system leaks ?

If your pipe into and out of the turbo are the same and the RPM and load are constant you will have the same pressure on both sides. The reason smaller turbos have less lag is that they have less mass to rotate. Pressure increases at the turbine until it's up to speed and then equalizes as long as there are no other restrictions on pipe size etc.

You have the patience of an elephant. So I have a 2006 Acura TL with an evap leak. I bought a fog machine. I don't see any smoke leaking but I can smell gas near the filler neck. With 3/4 tank of fuel. So where is my leak?

Pressure is greatest where it backs up going into the turbo. After the turbo if you have sufficient pipe size per application it will have lower pressure. (no restricted cat or blocked muffler or small pipe size.

Don't smoke! lol That quitting is TOUGH! I'd check the gasket o-ring on the fuel cap first. Then the filler neck etc. You can vacuum test each of the vacuum lines and vent lines by section using a suction gun.

Thanks for the video I was planning on doing the exact same thing. No im sure I am.

I could. It takes time for the smoke to travel in those little lines. A vac gun can be faster.

I want a "frog" machine. Great tip

Sorry works, not 'morks' :) it was €750 plus 23% tax, its expensive enough but came with uv smoke dye, big 12volt halogen light, uv light and lots of different hose caps. works great, it hasnt an adjustable flow rate but I dont mind that. I work on some agri tractors and other stuff so works well for that. Expensive I know, wish I could be more inventive, your smoke machine can sure put out!

The new blue point smoke machine by snap-on is an amazing machine....smoke machines help a lot in large or small evap leaks!!!
